Ya en el segundo tiempo, apenas a los 3 minutos Navas se vestía de héroe con un par de atajadas, dos minutos después Juan Pablo Vargas aparecía de cabeza para poner al frente a Costa Rica, tras eso Estados Unidos se fue al ataque, pero al 59 Anthony Contreras puso el 2-0, eso obligó a las Barras y las Estrellas a irse con todo, pero la defensa tica y Keylor Navas salvaron su arco.
Con esta victoria Costa Rica arribó a 25 puntos quedándose con la cuarta posición, justo debajo de Estados Unidos que también sumó 25 unidades logrando clasificar directo por su mejor diferencia de goles y mandando a los Ticos al repechaje donde se medirán a Nueva Zelanda. Costa Rica 2-0 Estados Unidos.
