Los últimos minutos del encuentro harían más atractivo el partido. A un minuto de acabarse el tiempo regular, Sabin Merino marcó el 3-1 para San Luis, pero cuando el duelo iba a terminar, el necaxista Araos pondría el 3-2.
La victoria le da sus primeros tres puntos al Atlético de San Luis, quien recibe a Guadalajara en la jornada 2. En tanto, Necaxa remará contracorriente y buscará su primer triunfo ante León en la siguiente fecha.
